Malayan Sun Bear
(Helarctos malayanus)


  Habitat: tropical and sub-tropical forests.

  Feeding habits: get food or catch its prey with its paws or teeth.

  Food: vegetation, fruits, insects, bees and small animals.

  Size: with a body length of 1 m and a tail of 5 cm long. Weight: 50 kg. 

  Habits:  It acts alone. It usually hangs around in the forest and likes to act in trees. Compared with black bears, its action is more nimble. It's fiercer than black bears. When hunted by man, they will attack on people. 

  Category: mammalia, beast of prey, bear.

  Distribution: all around Yunnan. All provinces in South China. 

  Level of protection: class I key state protection animal of China.
